Birth
“Yeah, it's a boy!” April 7, 1850 Will Keith Kellogg was born to a hard working family in Battle Creek, Michigan. His father's name was John and his mother's name was Ann.

Childhood
In Wills childhood he worked for his family. They sold food from their garden for money. In 1867 Will started working in his father's broom factory when he was only 7 years old. Will loved his Arabian horse named Spot. Later on his father decided to sell Spot for the money. When this happened, Will promised himself that he would get several Arabian horses when he was older.

Education
At school Will was very shy though he still had quite a few friends. Also at school Will didn't have very good grades. In fact, he actually needed glasses but he didn't figure that out until later on. His mother and father didn't care about any of his grades. They thought work was more important. Although Will wasn't very good in school, his parents taught him to be helpful and caring.

Religion>
The Kellogg's belonged to a religion called the Seventh-day Adventists. They believed that it was wrong to take drugs. The Kellogg's taught others not to do drugs. The Kellogg family was very caring. They helped neighbors in need. One time a neighbor needed milk so they gave them one of their cows. Another time, a neighbor couldn't keep his farm so they gave him some money. They also gave money to neighbors and other people in need.

Early Business
In 1878 Will was working very hard at his broom factory job. He was finally a very, very busy businessman. He took trains to and from to all different places to work at broom factory's. At the time, Will had a girl friend named Ella Davis. But he found another broom factory job very far from home. He decided to take the job, but once he got to the new job he missed home terribly, so he instantly decided he would go back home.

In 1880, Will got a new job in Battle Creek. He worked with his brother, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. Will's brother ran the Battle Creek sanitarium. It was called the Sun for short. When Dr. Harvey was busy with other patients, Will was in charge. The employees enjoyed his company. They started calling him W.K. They said, “If you want something to get done, go to W.K.”.

Family Life
Once Will moved home he decided to ask Ella for her hand in marriage and Ella replied “yes” in 1882. A year later they had their first child named John Leonard-a boy. Five years later they had their youngest child named Elizabeth Ann-a girl in 1888. Because of Will's business he couldn't spend much time with his children and his wife.

Third Business
W.K didn't enjoy his job with his brother very much. His brother didn't pay him much, and he was very poor. Even though W.K didn't have much money, he still gave money to neighbors.

W.K and his brother made health food for their patients. One day they put the wheat in the water and forgot about it. Then a few days later they found it in the water. Instead of throwing it away they tried it . It was a success! After that they started making health food for the patients at the Sun. The recipe was very bland and had no sugar. In 1891, they tried to make another recipe that was better, but in the end it tasted terrible. They called it Granose Flakes. The patients loved it. They had it for every breakfast. W.K started inventing a cereal called corn flakes. It contained ingredients with corn.

He built a day care and an elementary school named after his dear mother, the Ann J. Elementary School. Also Will donated $25,000 to people in serious depression! He still had enough money to survive.

Death
Will Keith Kellogg died on October 6, 1951. He was 91 years old when he died. After an exciting life it all came to an end.

Kellog's Invention
Crunch! Crunch! Do you like Kellogg's Corn Flakes cereal? If you do, this is how it all came to be.
W.K. Kellogg actually made the corn flakes on accident! But before he even had any idea about the corn flakes, he made health food with his brother for the San patients. To make it, first, they boiled wheat in hot water so it became a mushy dough. Then they put it through two rollers to flatten out the dough. After that the brothers crumbled up the dough and served it to the patients.

One day the brothers forgot about some wheat in the boiling water. They found it in the water a few days later and decided to put it in the rollers anyway. It tasted spectacular!

The cereal invention solved the problem of having to make a big healthy breakfast. Instead they are getting a bowl, a spoon, a glass of milk and grabbing a box of Kellog cereal and your set. Now isn't that handy? It is healthy and delicious too. Don't forget if you got to go to work, it's fast and easy! The cereal invention has changed over time because it has gotten more sugary and more cereals. There are also lots more exciting names for the cereal like Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes and Frosted Mini Wheats.

The cereal invention changed our world by making people more up and going in the morning and a more healthy breakfast.

Conclusion
Finally after all of this, you should know millions of facts about Will Keith Kellogg and his invention. I'll bet you'll always remember when you read, the fact that the Corn Flakes invention was really a mistake.
